On November 19, the 2nd Sounding Board meeting of the BnB project was held in the presence of the Sounding Board members from BRRC, BBRI, Betonhuis, OVAM and BESIX, and also the members of the consortium from VUB, KUL, MEAM, VITO, SGS Intron, and Rutte Groep/Smartcrusher. The meeting was organised by the project leader, Professor Hubert RAHIER from VUB with the assistance of Dr. Ruben SNELLINGS from VITO.
After welcoming and a round-table introduction of the Sounding Board members, Professor RAHIER presented an overview of the project, the recent results and findings, and the status of the work by different members of the consortium. This was followed by a Q&A session where the members of the Sounding Board raised general and technical questions regarding the results and the next steps of the project.
Next on the agenda was the presentation by Matilda AXELSON, a doctoral researcher at the Institute for European Studies (IES) at VUB on the non-technical barriers and enablers for broader application of low carbon concrete recycling technologies. This presentation was also followed by a Q&A session and the questions/suggestions by the Board members and the member of the consortium were raised and addressed. The board members shared their experience on the difficult balance between maintaining a technological head start and the advantages and openness associated with it towards law-making authorities or the market to gain the necessary trust. We noticed that the market is in fact searching for sustainable solutions.
If you want to know more about the current state of the project, or you would like to be part of the sounding board, please let us know by leaving a message in the contact form or by contacting Professor RAHIER.
